Cookie Policy

How this site uses cookies and similar technologies.

Effective 18 September 2026

The short version

This site uses one thing that sets cookies: Google Analytics, so that we can see how many people visit and which pages are useful. That is all.

There is no advertising technology on this site. No ad tags, no tracking pixels, no remarketing, and no cookies from anyone other than Google Analytics. We do not use what Analytics tells us to advertise to you, and Google’s advertising features are switched off on our account.

The cookies this site sets

Both are first-party cookies set by Google Analytics 4. Google’s default lifetime for each is up to two years.

  • _ga — tells one visitor apart from another, so a returning visit is not counted as a new one.
  • _ga_<identifier> — keeps track of a single visit while it is happening.

Neither is used to identify you personally, and neither is shared with advertisers.

Analytics reports we look at are aggregate — visits, pages, referrers, approximate region. We do not use them to work out who an individual visitor is.

Google Fonts

The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser requests those files from Google, and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. No cookie is set by it, and it is not used to identify you.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard technical information when a page is requested — IP address, browser type, time of request. That is a server log, not a cookie, and it exists to operate and secure the site. See the Privacy Policy.

Turning it off

Nothing on this site depends on cookies, so blocking them will not stop it working.

  • Every major browser lets you see, block and delete cookies in its settings.
  • Google publishes an opt-out for Analytics that works across every site that uses it: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Most browser privacy modes and tracker blockers already block Analytics.

If this changes

If we ever add advertising technology, or switch on Google’s advertising features, we will update this page before doing so and ask for your consent where consent is required.
